The European Center for Digital Action (ECDA) works with progressive political and civil society organizations to help them use the best tactics and tools for their campaigns. We help organizations adopt the right mindset, help build capacity, and consult on campaign plans

Communications Specialist

Key responsibilites:

As a Communications Specialist for the ECDA, you will be responsible for managing and implementing all communications activities to support the organization. This includes creating and implementing content and managing the organization’s newsletter, social media, webinar program, bi-annual magazine, and website.

You will also support the outreach team as needed to promote the ECDA in their efforts to expand the network by identifying and engaging with new partners and stakeholders.

Your

tasks include:

  • Strategy and planning: For all communications activities to support the organization’s goals and activities.

  • Bi-weekly newsletter: Creation and deployment of the newsletter.

  • Social media: Planing, creation, and posting of all social media campaigns (organic and paid).

  • Content creation: For the organization’s website or other means, working with outside agencies and vendors.

  • Webinars: Planning and executing webinars using Zoom including all planning with speakers, internal stakeholders, and promotion.

  • Blog: Creation of blog posts or editing and briefing posts from contributors both inside and outside the organization.

  • Website management: Managing the ECDA website including any updates or content creation.

  • Brand identity: Contribute to establishing and maintaining the ECDA brand visual identity through all organization activities and content.

  • Digital platforms: Support the management of internal ECDA communications platforms (i.e. Zoom).

  • Magazine: Project management for the bi-annual digital (and physical) magazine including managing the written and graphic design content, printing, distribution, and promotion.

  • Video editing: Light video and photo editing

  • Communications support: For any internal or external event including presentations, sign-up forms, organizing photographers/videographers, external and internal communications for events, and development of promotional content pre and post-event.

  • Regular reporting: On evolution and performance.

Your profile:

  • Language: Native English speakers or those with the highest mastery to be able to write and edit the language confidently.

  • Remote working: Comfortable and efficient when working remotely. Able to independently manage and prioritize tasks.

  • Progressive political interests: Interested in progressive politics, political campaigning, digital technologies, and grassroots organizing.

  • Digitally savvy: Experience using digital platforms for communications tasks such as CRM databases, social media campaigns and ads, email newsletters, website management, webinars, etc.

  • Presentations: Experience in crafting professional presentations.

  • Social media: Experience in planning and managing social media posts.

  • Content creation: Experience in creating digital content from brief to production to implementation.

  • Curious: Eager to learn new skills, both soft and hard, and find innovative solutions to challenges as they arise.

  • Skills: Strong writing and editing skills, the ability to project manage communications content creation and implementation, the ability to work with stakeholders both internally and externally from a distance, and excellent time management skills.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Political experience: Experience working in communications for political parties or organizations with a political aim.

  • Website experience: Experience with website development, 

  • Email databases: Experience managing a CRM database, writing and deploying email newsletters. We use Action Network, but experience from other CRM databases such as Mailchimp will easily transfer. 

  • Webinars: Experience in planning, promoting, and executing webinars and other online events.

  • Video / photo editing: Experience in creating videos, graphic design, or editing photos.

  • Event management: Experience in planning events.

  • PR: Experience in managing media relations.

  • Salary ranges: Salary proposal will reflect seniority of the applicants, taking into consideration the median country salary coefficient. Salary grid can be available upon request.  

  • Contract duration: Probation period of 3 months, after which the contract will be extended until Mar 2025, with the possibility of prolongation.
