Overview
ECDA’s WhatsApp Organizing Intensive is a one-day online course designed to inspire, support, and build the skills participants need to win elections and progressive campaigns.

Participants will learn how to build WhatsApp programs using groups, channels, communities, and broadcast lists. We’ll also share proven engagement and mobilization (GOTV) strategies, plus essential tools, tips, and tricks.

The training is tailored for staff or volunteers at political parties and advocacy groups who are running, or planning to run, people-powered campaigns using WhatsApp. Prior experience with organizing using WhatsApp or Telegram is essential and participants must be part of an organization that has at least basic capacity to implement their learnings, such as access to contact lists, permission to run a WhatsApp program, and staff resources to manage a program.

What you will learn

Select and deploy the appropriate WhatsApp features such as groups, channels, communities, broadcast lists, and peer-to-peer messaging to meet specific campaign mobilization and engagement goals.

Evaluate election case studies to identify best practices, considerations, and approaches of WhatsApp-based mobilization (GOTV).

Design and build supporter-sharing campaigns via WhatsApp to convert shares into email subscribers.

Explore opportunities and considerations for using APIs and automated flows.

This is a one day online session consisting of a 4 hour workshop. It is recommended that participants do not have heavy work requirements on the day of the training.
Cost
Cost for participation is €150.00 per person (VAT not included). An invoice will be sent upon registration and payment must be made before the first session takes place.

Trainers
Oriol Corbella
Oriol is also an organizer and political strategist. From Barcelona (Spain), Oriol has been involved in grassroots movements and worked on several political campaigns over the past decade. He was community manager for Barcelona en Comu with Ada Calou for 6 years and used WhatsApp across the city to build community and mobilize voters. He is passionate about how political communications can be boosted online, competing with modern narratives and formats.
